ABOUT SOGNA

Snædís Högnadóttir is born in the Westman Islands but raised in Kópavogur.
She comes from a family of artists and has always had art dormant in her. As a child she drew and painted a lot, wrote poems and stories and designed clothes. When creativity is not taken care of, the need will always emerge at some point in the artist's life, and Snædís has been taking care of art for the past few years.

Snædís draws inspiration from the colors and beauty of nature, life experiences and emotions. Nature is amazingly powerful and she creates each work by mixing nature with her own experiences and feelings.

The artist name artbysogna comes from Snædís's name, but also from the word SOGNA, which is the Italian word for dreams. She took a long time to decide on an artist name until she was in a small design shop in Sirmione, Garda, Italy. There she spotted a small piece of clay art that read SOGNA, she took it as a sign to use this stage name and make her dreams come true at the same time.

Snædís wants to create works that speak to the viewer, in such a way that the viewer connects with it and hears it. Then it means something deeper than that he likes the work, but that the work grabs the viewer at the right moment in the mental place he is at that moment.

When Snædís works on a piece, she stands by each piece until the piece has found its voice.
